ABOUT THE SUMMIT:
Marylanders produce nearly one million tons of food scraps every year, and despite significant progress in food recycling in recent years, most of this material is still disposed of as waste. By reducing and recovering more excess food, we can save money, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and help to feed those in need.
“Innovative Solutions to Food Scraps Challenges,” Maryland's third Food Recovery Summit, will bring together a diverse group of stakeholders for information and networking, with the aim of implementing new food policies in Maryland and overcoming challenges to diverting more food from disposal. Topics will include Maryland's new food scraps recycling law, innovative collection strategies, anaerobic digestion, food scraps tracking, and food scraps diversion as a climate change strategy.
