Lead Poisoning Prevention Program

Maryland's Lead Poisoning Prevention Program, administered by the Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE), has many purposes, inlcuding:
- Education - The program educates parents, tenants, homeowners, rental property owners, and health care providers on lead poisoning prevention.
- Case management - The program oversees case management for childern with elevated blood lead levels.
- Environmental investigations - The program conducts environmental investigations for childern with elevated blood lead levels.
- Compliance- The program ensures compliance with Maryland's Reduction of Lead Risk in Housing Act.
- Accrediation & Oversight - The program accredits and preforms oversight on inspectors and contractors who perform lead services.
