Governor Larry Hogan declared May 20, 2019 as Maryland Green Registry Day to mark the 10th Anniversary of the program. What started in 2009 with just a few members has grown over the past decade to include more than 550 member organizations reporting nearly $105 million in savings through smart, sustainable practices. The anniversary was celebrated at an evening event held in partnership with the National Association of Environmental Professionals at the historic Lord Baltimore Hotel in Baltimore, Maryland (see photos here).
Maryland Department of the Environment Secretary Ben Grumbles presented the Maryland Green Registry Leadership Awards to five member organizations, selected by a judging panel for their strong commitment to sustainable practices, measurable results, and continual improvement. The winners, listed below, represent a variety of facility types and sizes, but all have several key factors in common that contribute to their success: an organization-wide commitment to environmental performance, a green team that meets on a regular basis, annual environmental goals, and measurement of results.
Three additional members, listed below, were named to the 2019 Leadership Circle, which recognizes former Leadership Award winners that have demonstrated a commitment to continual improvement by implementing significant new sustainable practices in the past year.
Congratulations to the 2019 Award Winners and to all Maryland Green Registry members for another year of impressive and inspiring annual results (view infographic)!
