Clean Heat Rules - Zero-Emission Heating Equipment Standard (ZEHES) and Clean Heat Standard (CHS)
Stakeholder Meetings on Clean Heat Rules - Fall 2024
In June 2024, Governor Moore issued
Executive Order 01.01.2024.19, Leadership by State Government: Implementing Maryland’s Climate Pollution Reduction Plan. The Executive Order requires MDE to propose ZEHES and CHS. MDE’s Climate Change Program is working to adapt a ZEHES Model Rule published by the Northeast States for Coordinated Air Use Management (NESCAUM) and propose a Maryland ZEHES rule in 2025. MDE is also developing a CHS rule with the goal of proposing reporting requirements for covered parties in 2025. ZEHES and CHS together make up the Clean Heat Rules.
Meetings are being held for stakeholders to provide feedback and input on the Clean Heat Rules. Register
here for the Fall 2024 webinars. If you would like to stay informed on the upcoming regulations and stakeholder meetings, please click
