MDE issued a public notice on February 1, 2026 requesting nontidal wetland mitigation cost estimates.

The Maryland Wetland Assessment Methodology (MDWAM) is being tested for nontidal wetland impacts and mitigation. More information is available on the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mitigation website.
<CLOSED> MDE and Chesapeake Bay Trust grant program to provide funds for nontidal wetland restoration, creation, and enhancement projects throughout Maryland.
A stream and floodplain restoration project proposed to satisfy a compensatory mitigation requirement is subject to the requirements of the Whole Watershed Act. Mill Swamp Stream and Wetland Mitigation Bank, Charles County- Public comment period extended to May 5, 2025.
