IMPORTANT: Tracking Software for Lead Testing in Drinking Water in Schools - Updates to Required Reporting Procedures

Date: September 10, 2021

Dear School Representative:

Under Maryland law, all public, charter, and nonpublic schools serving students in Pre-Kindergarten through grade 12 that receive drinking water from a public utility are required to periodically test all their drinking water outlets for the presence of lead in the water on a State-established three-year cycle, unless a waiver from future testing has been granted.  More information about this program may be found on MDE's web page for the initiative.

Since August of 2018, Maryland's "Testing for Lead in Drinking Water--Public and Nonpublic Schools" program has contracted with 120Water (formerly 120WaterAudit.com) for assistance with data tracking and management.  The software contract ended in August of 2021, and has not been renewed at this time. The 120Water email account for submitting test results has been closed and will no longer accept results; please DO NOT submit lead sample results or required reporting forms to the 120Water email address.

In addition, schools are no longer able to access their accounts on the 120Water platform. If your school wishes to retrieve copies of documents previously uploaded to its 120Water account, please send an email requesting these materials to reporting.leadschoolwater@maryland.gov, or call MDE's Water Supply Program at 410-537-3729.  Please do not contact 120Water for this purpose.

IMPORTANT:  All lead sample results and required reporting forms must be sent to testresults.leadschoolwater@maryland.gov.  Because some documents have changed, please be sure to use the forms currently available on MDE's web page.  Please direct all other correspondence, including waiver applications, to reporting.leadschoolwater@maryland.gov.

We appreciate your prompt attention to this important matter.  Thank you for your efforts in implementing this regulation.

Sincerely,
