Site in 2012
Introduction
This site includes a 6.6 acre forested nontidal wetland restoration and 0.6 acre enhancement of farmed wetland to emergent nontidal wetland, located in the Deer Creek watershed (02120202) watershed of Harford County.
Construction
The Maryland Department of the Environment, in conjunction with the Harford County Soil Conservation District, the contractor and the landowner, restored this wetland through grading and planting in fall 2010. The site was previously agriculture. Since this site was located in potential bog turtle habitat, the project was modified to account for that species (e.g., no grading in areas of potential habitat, no trees planted in certain areas).
During construction
Site provides habitat for many aquatic-dependent species (e.g., dragonflies)
