41. DNR Wetlands of Special State Concern Contract #1

Introduction

The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Wetlands of Special State Concern Contract #1 is an enhancement of 59 acres of Delmarva Bays & other Wetlands of Special State Concern by management of invasive species.  Of the total 59 acres, 42 acres are located in the Upper Choptank River Area (02-13-04-05) watershed, 5 acres are located in the Upper Chester River Area (02-13-05-10) watershed, and 12 acres are located in the Tuckahoe Creek (02-13-04-05) watershed. 


Construction

During the period between 2002 and the present, a coordinated effort between the Maryland Department of the Environment and the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, has resulted in controlling of invasive plant species on extensive areas of land.                 


Status

DNR is conducting ongoing monitoring.   The sites are doing well and appear successful.
