Christmas Tree Recycling Information

Each year, approximately 40 million Christmas trees are sold in the United States.  Do your part for Maryland's environment by recycling your Christmas tree this year. Recycled Christmas trees can be used for mulch, soil erosion barriers and many other environmentally-friendly uses.Child pulling a Christmas tree in the snow. Click on the links below to find out how your county recycles Christmas trees.

    Undecorated trees are accepted at the Midshore Transfer Station until January 30. Please have your ID ready to prove county residency

  • Washington -
    The Washington County Department of Solid Waste is offering free Christmas tree recycling to Washington County residents. All lights, ornaments, and nails must be removed from the tree. Trees will be accepted daily beginning 12/26/23 – 1/31/24
