Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDL) get no respect! What are they? Recognizing the unique position and stake that local governments have in water quality management, the state of Maryland works closely with local jurisdictions to develop ways to meet the challenges of TMDL implementation.
Maryland’s elaborate Piney Run air monitoring station now features a camera, connected to a real-time air pollution and visibility-monitoring network that shows haze conditions in Western Maryland. The Piney Run Station is specifically designated to measure pollutants that come from out of state sources.
Gary Kelman takes on new mission to raise the customer service center to a new level, by providing direction and vision to the Office of Special Programs. MDE will become a hub for environmental information and regulatory matters of the state.
