(BALTIMORE, MD) April 23, 2013 - The Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) Secretary Robert M. Summers celebrated Earth Week 2013 with winners of the first MDE Earth Day Poster Contest. Fourth-grade students at John Eager Howard Elementary School in Baltimore City were recognized by Secretary Summers for their illustration of the poster contest theme, "Reclaim the Bay."

Judges from MDE's Land Management Administration and Office of Communications received more than 2,000 poster entries from elementary and middle school students across Maryland. In addition to the "Best in Show" award, judges also recognized outstanding work from students across the state in grade categories: K-2, 3-5 and 6-8.
