BALTIMORE, MD (August 11, 2005) – Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) Secretary Kendl P. Philbrick announced today that the agency is sponsoring the 14th annual State-County Groundwater Symposium, to be held Wed., Sept. 7, at the Holiday Inn Select – Baltimore North Hotel in Timonium. The full-day symposium brings together groundwater professionals from across Maryland to exchange information and promote protection of the state’s groundwater resources.
“This is an ideal networking opportunity for sanitarians, environmental health directors, local planners, water suppliers and consultants who work with groundwater,” said Secrectary Philbrick. The symposium will cover technical and management issues and provide networking opportunities between county, regional and national experts. This year’s sessions will address:
Water Capacity, Planning for Adequacy, and Guidelines for Water Resource Planning
Water Supply and Growth Planning for Small Towns
Educational Strategies for Ground Water Management and Protection
Emerging Drinking Water Contaminants and Issues
On-site Sewage Disposal Systems and Management
Groundwater Modeling for Estimating Availability of Water Supplies
New Technologies for Groundwater Management
The Bay Restoration Fund and On-Site Sewage Systems
