BALTIMORE (April 27, 2004) – The Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) will hold a day-long workshop on retrofitting school buses to reduce air pollution. The workshop will be held Thursday, April 29 at MDE headquarters, located at 1800 Washington Boulevard, in Baltimore from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The workshop will bring together school bus fleet owners and operators and school administrators with industry experts and regulators to discuss strategies and programs to reduce emissions.
Air pollution from diesel engines, especially older engines, can cause or exacerbate respiratory ailments, including asthma. Children are at greatest risk.
