ANNAPOLIS, MD (April 2, 2003) -- Governor Robert L. Ehrlich announced Board of Public Works approval today of $100,000 in supplemental assistance for the Town of Mountain Lake Park (Garrett County) to begin rehabilitation work on its wastewater collection system.

“This project will help identify and remove major sources of infiltration and inflow in the town’s wastewater collection system,” Governor Ehrlich said. “Upon completion, the overall integrity of the system will be improved, raw sewage overflows will be prevented and the water quality of the Trout Run River will be better protected.”

The project involves an engineering evaluation of the town’s sewerage collection system that includes cleaning, televising and smoking testing which will result in the repair and/or replacement of defective sewer lines and manholes.

“The Town of Mountain Lake Park would like to express its thanks and gratitude to all persons and agencies involved in helping to improve its services,” said town Mayor Britten L. Martin Jr.

The total cost of the project is $257,300 of which $157,300 is the local share that will be financed through the state revolving loan fund administered by the Maryland Department of the Environment.

Design plans of the job are expected to be complete later this summer with construction beginning by the end of year, weather permitting.
