BALTIMORE, MD (June 28, 2000) – The third working session of Maryland’s Water Conservation Advisory Committee will be held from Noon until 4 p.m. on June 29 in the Chesapeake Conference Room at Maryland Department of the Environment headquarters, 2500 Broening Highway in Dundalk.

Agenda items for the session include an overview of Maryland’s Drought Response Plan.

Following last year’s drought the Water Conservation Advisory Committee was established by gubernatorial executive order. The committee is chaired by Robert L. Swann and is comprised of members appointed by Governor Parris N. Glendening to represent state and local government, major water suppliers, environmental interest organizations, business, farming, public education and the general public. The committee will examine current practices, procedures and policies across Maryland for conserving water supplies, and recommend short and long-term planning that will enhance the state’s preparedness and ability to respond to future drought emergencies.
