Public participation provides Marylanders with the opportunity to be informed about environmental decisions and to their voice citizen concerns, opinions and recommendations.
The Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) Public Participation Guide, developed to help the general public understand how regulatory agency works, encourages public involvement with protecting the environment. This informative guide gives a brief overview of environmental laws to empower public participation in government decision-making processes that impact their communities.
The document was designed to meet the goals of MDE’s public outreach strategy by continuing to improve and build new partnerships between governments, businesses, and communities. One of these goals is to assure public participation and stakeholder involvement.
