MDE is celebrating America Recycles Day (ARD) by hosting the 5th Annual “Rethink Recycling” Sculpture Contest and judging ceremony. High school students from across Maryland are invited to participate by creating sculptures made of recycled and used materials. Students create highly innovative and artistic sculptures made from a variety of materials such as cardboard, scrap metal, soda cans, crushed compact disks, electronics and more. Forty-five sculptures from 12 schools across seven Maryland counties are slated to appear. ARD is a national event that unites business, environmental and civic groups, and local, state, and federal government agencies to promote recycling, source reduction, and the purchase of products made from recycled materials as a means to a more sustainable society.
