Maryland General Permit No. 17-PE

Important Announcement - 17-PE Training for Interested Parties

Friday, April 3, 2020 - 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM

Due to the recent concerns for public gathering and public health, the 17-PE training for interested parties will now be held online.  The Department is contacting anyone who previously RSVP'd to attend in person with information on how to attend the online training.  If you are interested in attending and have not RSVP'd or received instructions to attend, please notify Paul Hlavinka (paul.hlavinka@maryland.gov) or Lillian Myers (lillian.myers@maryland.gov) to request instructions and training materials.

Final Determination

On February 14, 2020, the Department published notice of its final determination to reissue the General Permit for Discharges from the Application of Pesticides (Maryland General Permit No. 11-PE, NPDES No. MDG87) with the renewal designation of State Number 17-PE.  The 17-PE is effective as of April 1, 2020.

Anyone proposing to use pesticides in or near waters of the State should become familiar with the requirements of the 17-PE permit and should specifically consult Table 1 in Part II of the permit to determine if submission of a Notice of Intent (NOI) is required.  Those who currently hold an active Toxic Materials Permit (TMP) may need to submit an NOI according to Table 2 in Part II of the permit prior to the expiration date listed on their TMP.
