Please let us know if you've seen a vehicle idling excessively. Maryland Transportation law limits all vehicle idling to five minutes except for:

• sitting in traffic
• mechanical difficulties
• operating auxiliary equipment or heating and cooling
• warming up to the manufacturer's operating temperature
• intended use of the vehicle, such as emergency vehicles

​​Use the following form to report excessive idling to MDE. ​All fields are optional but without a tag number to identify the vehicle we cannot contact the owner to inform them of the complaint or take other follow up action. Contact information will be kept confidential and will not be used in correspondence with vehicle owners. The Department of the Environment may contact you for more information, if required​.​​
