Lead Poisoning Prevention Program

 

Maryland's L​ead Poisoning Prevention Program, administered by the Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE), has many purposes, inlcuding: 

  • ​Education - ​​The ​​program educates parents, tenants, homeowners, rental property owners, and health care providers on lead poisoning prevention. 

  • Case management - The program oversees case management for childern with elevated blood lead levels. 

  • Environmental investigations - The program conducts environmental investigations for childern with elevated blood lead levels. 

  • Compliance- The program ensures compliance with Maryland's Reduction of Lead Risk in Housing ​Act. 

  • Accrediation & Oversight - The program accredits and preforms oversight on inspectors and contractors who perform lead services.
