Introduction

This mitigation site is a 1.3 acre (1.3 acre emergent) wetland creation located in the Choptank River Area - Tuckahoe Creek (02-13-04-05) watershed within Queen Anne’s County.   

Construction

In summer 1993, the Nontidal Wetlands and Waterways Division and Queen Anne’s County Soil Conservation District converted this agricultural area into a wetland.  The site was replanted in 1994 due to high tree mortality, but the site is now developing into a forested system.         

Status

This site has established into a decent wetland system and provides water quality improvement function and good wildlife habitat.  When MDE scored this site in 2009 using the newly developed Mitigation Site Scoring Method, the site received the score of 88/100. This site is on private property.
