Water Quality Analyses (WQA) with EPA Concurrence of MDE's Findings

Lake Bernard Frank is an impoundment located near Rockville in Montgomery County, Maryland. The impoundment, which is owned by the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, lies on the north branch of Rock Creek, just upstream of the confluence with Rock Creek. An earthen dam was installed in 1967 for the purpose of flood control, sediment control, and recreation.

Lake Bernard Frank in the Rock Creek watershed (02140206) was identified on Maryland’s 1998 303(d) list of WQLSs as being impaired by nutrients. The 1998 listing was prompted by an assessment of data associated with Lake Bernard Frank (Maryland Department of Natural Resources [DNR] 1991). The report available below provides more recent information that supports the removal of the Lake Bernard Frank listing when the 303(d) list is revised.
