New Guide to Permits and Approvals Available

Click here for MDE’s new edition of the Guide to Permits and Approvals. This new version has been revised and updated with new information. The guide has been reformatted with a series of questions to help you determine which permits you might need. There are more than 70 fact sheets in the guide that provide information about the fees, turnaround times, application process, and contacts for the many types of permits, licenses, approvals and registrations issued by MDE. Printed copies are available. Please call (410) 537-3772 to request a copy or if you need assistance determining the permits you need.

MDE Sponsors 2008 National Environmental Partnership Summit

The Maryland Department of the Environment is a sponsor of the National Environmental Partnership Summit, an interdisciplinary gathering of environmental professionals and assistance providers from diverse sectors all over the country and world. The Summit will be held May 19-22 at the Sheraton Baltimore City Center. 

This year’s theme - "Accelerating Environmental Performance: Pathways to Action" - reflects a commitment to provide concrete examples of environmental leadership attained by businesses and government programs. Most importantly, these case studies will show you how your business or program can do the same.

Throughout the week, the 2008 Summit will provide examples of environmental leadership that will inspire you to take action. Keynote speakers include Phillipe Costeau and Bob Willard. The conference will offer Track Topics on: Environmental Assistance; Results in Research & Technology; Measurement, Metrics & Indicators of Environmental Performance; Energy Reduction Tools & Techniques; Sustainable Consumption; Greening Your Business; Policy & Legislation; Behavioral Change & Information Outreach; Climate Change Success Stories.

MDE Welcomes Neil Jones Back from Iraq

MDE welcomes Neil Jones as he returns to MDE’s Emergency Response Division from a tour of duty in Iraq. Jones serves with the 175th Security Forces Squadron of Maryland’s Air National Guard. The squadron spent six months in Iraq providing security at the Baghdad Airport. Welcome back Neil!
