BALTIMORE, MD (October 5, 2007) – The Maryland Department of the Environment’s (MDE) Waste Management Administration issued the following enforcement actions between August 31 and
September 15, 2007 with penalties more than $5,000:

  • Gloria Cornish, Dorchester County

    4 affected properties - On August 31, MDE issued an Administrative Complaint, Order and Penalty equaling $13,750 to Gloria Cornish for violating Maryland’s Lead Laws by failing to register properties, and failure to bring the affected properties into compliance with risk reduction standards.

  • William and Regina Bonnett, Baltimore City

    4 affected properties – On August 31 MDE signed a Settlement Agreement and Consent Order with William and Regina Bonnett that contained a penalty of $9,000 for violating Maryland’s Lead Laws by failing to bring the affected properties into compliance with risk reduction standards.The penalty has been paid.

  • Catherine D. Routzahn et al, Caroline County

    3 affected properties - On August 31, MDE issued an Administrative Complaint, Order and Penalty equaling $20,000 to Catherine D. Routzahn et al for violating Maryland’s Lead Laws by failing to bring the affected properties into compliance with risk reduction standards.

  • Kim Dean, Washington County

    2 affected properties – On September 11, MDE issued an Administrative Complaint, Order and Penalty equaling $5,000 to Kim Dean for violating Maryland’s Lead Laws by failing to register properties.

  • Alfred G. Reed, Baltimore City

    9 properties – On September 11, MDE signed a Settlement Agreement and Consent Order with Alfred G. Reed that contained a penalty of $5,000 for violating Maryland’s Lead Laws by failing to bring the affected properties into compliance with risk reduction standards.

  • Harvey L. Hill, Baltimore City

    1 affected property – On September 13, MDE issued an Administrative Complaint, Order and Penalty equaling $33,000 to Harvey L. Hill for violating Maryland’s Lead Laws by failing to register a property, and failure bring the affected property into compliance with risk reduction standards

  • Charles A. Lankford, Baltimore City

    2 affected properties (92 rental units) – On September 13, MDE issued an Administrative Complaint, Order and Penalty equaling $82,500 to Charles A. Lankford for violating Maryland’s Lead Laws by failing to register properties, and failure bring the affected properties into compliance with risk reduction standards

  • Michael and Adria Hammond, Baltimore City

    2 affected properties – On September 13, MDE issued an Administrative Complaint, Order and Penalty equaling $35,000 to Michael and Adria Hammond for violating Maryland’s Lead Laws by failing to bring the affected properties into compliance with risk reduction standards

  • Louise Parker and Celeste Simmons, Baltimore City

    7 affected properties– On September 13, MDE signed a Settlement Agreement and Consent Order with Louise Parker and Celeste Simmons that contained a penalty of $15,000 for violating Maryland’s Lead Laws. The penalty has not yet been paid.
