What

Lieutenant Governor Anthony G. Brown will address attendees and announce leadership winners at the third annual Maryland Green Registry Leadership Awards. Winners of the Registry’s Clean Commute Contest will also be recognized by Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) Secretary Robert M. Summers.  The evening will include networking, as well as two roundtable discussions on effective green teams and green marketing.

Governor O’Malley launched the Maryland Green Registry in 2009 to promote and recognize sustainable “greening” efforts by organizations of all types and sizes within the State.

The Leadership Awards recognize organizations that have shown a strong commitment to implementing sustainable practices, demonstrating measurable results and continually improving environmental performance.  This year, winners from Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Frederick, Montgomery and Washington counties will be recognized.

The Clean Commute contest encourages employees to walk, bike, telecommute or take public transportation to work. Two organizations will be recognized, one with the highest percentage reduction and the other with actual highest reduction in commute miles.
